Embodied Knowing: Design Your Life Through Your Body
This professional development workshop focuses on Embodied Knowing – how we work with what we feel and know in our bodies to make choices in our lives. Over the course of the three days together we will explore a model for Embodied Knowing that helps us bridge Laban/Bartenieff Movement Analysis into the wisdom of our bodies. We will also explore different forms and practices that we can use in our work with clients to help them develop their own Embodied Knowing.
Colleen Wahl is a master somatic movement educator, author and dance artist. She directs Integrated Movement Studies, a graduate certificate program in Laban/Bartenieff Movement Studies and is an Associate Professor of Dance at Alfred University. The Space Harmony of the Human Body: Our Design in Action
a workshop with Karen Studd at 26-28th of February 2027
You will be able to sign up for this Master Workshop soon
In this workshop we will be deepening the Body/Space connection. We will begin through exploring the space of the body. The Space of the Body Content and the Space of the Body Container.
We will access the Space inside us when we move – – the space as it relates to and defines our content our Innersphere Space. Then we will also move from the perspective of the 3D space which defines our form linked to the width, length and depth of our body’s design.
We will continue next to explore the space that our actions are contained within. This is the space that our body’s form can access through its actions. This is the Space we identify as our Kinesphere. We will draw upon the Spatial Map created by Rudolf Laban but also explore new territory and expand our understanding of the space of the Kinespheric Space.
Last we will address how our shared space – the Generalspheric Space – is the Space of human interaction.
In all our explorations we will find the boundaries of Space, the choices, limitations and possibilities.
